Our crews. Our equipment.
MarkWester carpenters, ironworkers, finishers and operators self-perform the work that drives the critical path, so the schedule rests on people we hire, train and direct.
Why it matters.
The critical path is physical
Foundations, structure and site work set the pace for everything that follows. Whoever controls those crews controls the schedule.
Availability is not guaranteed
In a busy market, the trade partner you priced may not have a crew free the week you need one. Our own crews remove that gap.
Quality starts at the bottom
Out-of-tolerance embeds, anchor bolts and slabs cause problems for every trade above them. Getting them right the first time pays all the way up.
How we work.

- 01
Concrete
Footings, foundations, suspended decks, cores and slab-on-grade, with our own formwork systems, pour sequencing and flatness checks.
- 02
Structural steel and miscellaneous metals
Erection, bolting, decking and embeds set by our ironworkers, with crane picks planned before the steel arrives.
- 03
Earthwork and site prep
Clearing, mass excavation, underground utilities and building pads, run with our own equipment fleet.
- 04
Carpentry and general conditions
Rough carpentry, blocking, doors, hardware and specialties, plus the temporary protection, cleanup and support that keep a site running.
- 05
Craft training
Apprentices learn alongside experienced foremen, and every crew runs a daily pre-task plan before work starts.
What you receive.
Every engagement is scoped to the project. These are the core outputs owners can expect.
Which scopes our crews carry, which go to trade partners, and how each choice affects cost and schedule.
Activity durations built from real crew sizes and production rates, not guesses.
Cranes, lifts, excavators and support equipment matched to the work and the site logistics plan.
Placement sequences, shoring and reshoring, and steel erection order tied to inspections.
Pre-pour checklists, survey reports and bolt inspections captured in the field and shared with the owner.

A fixed opening night, carried by our own crews.
The arena had a 26-month schedule and an opening-night date set before construction started. Our concrete and steel crews carried the bowl, the raker beams and the roof structure, so we could add shifts and resequence work without waiting on outside availability.

Questions owners ask us.
Which trades does MarkWester self-perform?
Concrete, structural steel, earthwork and carpentry are our core. The exact split on each project depends on the location, the scope and the schedule.
Will you still bid work to trade partners?
Yes. We price self-performed scopes against trade partner bids where it makes sense, and we share the comparison with the owner.
How do you keep self-perform pricing honest?
Our crews work to the same estimate, schedule and quality standards as any trade partner, and their costs are tracked line by line in the project reports.
